Spinning poi is fun, relaxing, and good for co-ordination and balancing activity between the two hemispheres of the brain. Alex is a very experienced, patient and friendly poi teacher, having taught regular classes in London for over seven years, as well as teaching at festivals including Sunrise, Glade, and Family Camp. He has also performed at many parties and festivals including Kalahari, the Synergy Project and the Big Green Gathering.

There are 2 levels of courses available: Beginner and Intermediate

BEGINNER is suitable for total beginners as well as those who only know a few moves or need their technique tidying up. Tuition is through simple demonstrations and individual guidance of basic moves like reels, the windmill, corkscrew, butterfly and forwards and backwards weaves, building in stages up to more complicated moves like the turning weave and fountain. This course is the most effective way of learning the fundamentals of poi in a short period of time. Please note students are expected to practise at home between lessons.

IINTERMEDIATE assumes you are comfortable with the beginner level moves and builds on that foundation with moves like turning with butterfly, thread-the-needle, shoulder and hip butterfly combination moves, five beat weave, and simple flowers. The focus is on showing ways to comfortably link moves together and freestyle. IMPORTANT! YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DO ALL BEGINNER MOVES BEFORE JOINING THE INTERMEDIATE COURSE!

an advanced course is also being planned which will include hyperloops, behind the back weave, and anti-spin flowers.

The classes take place every Friday and cost £60 for the 6 week course, or £40 for concessions. Class size is limited to 10 and places MUST BE BOOKED AND PAID FOR IN ADVANCE!

Quality practice poi sets are available for borrowing, or purchase at £12.
